The most important task of the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PAED) is the management of the funds assigned from the State Budget and the European Union for the support of the entrepreneurship and innovation, with particular consideration given to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). From the financial perspective between 2007 – 2013, PAED’s competences and tasks are increased.

These are, among others:

• the support of the entrepreneurs in developing their research and development activities,
  
  
• the support for the investment projects with regard to the application of new product technological, service or organisational solutions,
  
  
• the support provided within the scope of the industrial property rights protection,
  
  
• the support for innovative enterprise development, strengthening the cooperation between the education and economy sphere, as well as the interregional development of the voivodships in the East of Poland,
  
  
• the support for the projects aimed at service quality improvement rendered by the organisations supporting enterprise development,
  
  
• the support for national and trans-regional training and advisory projects.
