Project description
As a result of the project, company established an independent eDNA Laboratory capable of conducting commercial research for species identification in aquatic environments. The technologies implemented enable the use of cutting-edge genetic techniques for rapid and reliable environmental assessment.
oth stationary and mobile eDNA Laboratories were launched, offering the following specialized services:
- Detection of specific individual species through environmental DNA analysis
- Determining species composition of fauna in aquatic environments
- Rapid confirmation of protected species occurrence using mobile laboratory capabilities
The project provides critical capabilities for mitigating potential environmental losses associated with investment initiatives impacting inland waters and their immediate surroundings, including addressing water pollution and biodiversity reduction.
The introduction of these services was made possible by project-developed technologies, which include:
- Procedural workflow (from sample collection to result interpretation) for Single Species Detection from Environmental DNA in stationary laboratory settings
- Procedural workflow for Single Species Detection from Environmental DNA in mobile laboratory environments
- Procedural workflow for determining species composition of aquatic environments through Environmental DNA Metabarcoding
These technological innovations represent a significant advancement in environmental monitoring and conservation, offering precise, efficient, and adaptable solutions for ecological research and assessment.
