The implementation of an innovative technology for the recovery, storage, and reuse of thermal energy from spent molding sands

Project description

  The aim of the implemented project was to implement an innovative technology for the recovery of thermal energy from spent molding sands, which in the long term will positively impact the entire technological process of producing large-size castings. The project focused on the development and implementation of:

• An innovative process technology for the recovery and storage of thermal energy from spent molding sands (process innovation),
• A significant improvement in large-size castings, i.e. bottom boards and flat weights (product innovation),
• Two innovative solutions: the use of heat energy for central heating (C.O.) and hot water supply (C.W.U.) as well as ensuring the stability and control of temperature conditions during the production process of castings through the parametrization and construction of a closed heat recovery system from sand,

The result of the project is a significant reduction in annual CO2 emissions, a reduction in annual electricity consumption, an increase in annual turnover and net operating profit.
