Introduction of an innovative drying process for biomass products in Bioeko Osnowo sp. z o.o.

BioEko Osnowo is a certified manufacturer of agro pellets and wood pellets which are manufactured from selected pine sawdust without any additives. The project was meant to combine the interests of environmentally conscious energy users with those of modern organic matter manufacturers, at the same time enhancing the quality and price efficiency of pellets. We have implemented an innovative process of drying biomass in our plant. It combines the production of heat carried by 90°C water heated in a fresh (wet) biomass boiler with the process of drying high-quality biomass in a biomass belt dryer.

The project covered the purchase of machinery and equipment - a dryer (drying facility) and an energy unit for converting the biomass chemical energy as fuel with high moisture content (up to 55%) into heat.

Our customers benefit from lower pellet price as the biomass drying process contributes to lower pellet production costs (wet input material is cheaper to obtain). In addition, hot technological air makes the raw material very clean dried, free from discolouration, fungi spores and smell of fumes. The product humidity can be consistently kept. These features greatly increase the pellets quality, which directly affects the competitiveness of our company.

The use of fresh biomass to produce thermal energy lowers CO2 emissions by nearly six thousand tons per year, and the new process guarantees low dust emissions of 20 mg/m3. Electricity consumption is reduced by 0.11 GWh as a result of the project.
