Project description

The project aimed to introduce an innovative fertilizer based on limestone with activated clay mineral flour additives for agricultural production. The primary objective was to develop a product that increases the level of phytoavailability of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds for cultivated crops while maintaining the fundamental role of lime-based fertilizers in soil acidification and water management.

By implementing this innovative fertilizer, the project addresses critical environmental challenges, particularly the reduction of nitrogen and phosphorus compound leaching into groundwater. This approach directly mitigates the risk of groundwater and sea eutrophication, with a specific focus on protecting the Baltic Sea ecosystem.

The fertilizer's innovative formula is based on carbonate-clay components, which are currently considered a byproduct of mineral extraction processes. This approach aligns directly with the company's strategic goal of achieving zero-waste mining operations, ensuring comprehensive resource utilization, gradual elimination of existing mining site waste heaps, and systematic landscape restoration to its pre-extraction state.

The product was developed through the Research and Development (R&D) activities of the WKG company, representing a sophisticated solution that bridges agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability.
