Increasing the competitiveness of PLAST-FARB by development and implementation of an innovative SAFE HYBRID technological line

Project description

PLAST-FARB is a manufacturer of plastic packaging sold to 32 countries worldwide, such as envelopes and courier bags, security and sealing tapes, carrier bags and sacks. The project resulted from the company's orientation towards sustainable development and the search for solutions that neutralize our environmental impact, including product biodegradability. Under the project we have implemented a fundamental change in the process of non-hazardous packaging production by optimising the environmental parameters in a way prepared under in-house development work. We also introduced products made of biodegradable and recyclable materials.

The project covered the purchase, testing and validation of a new SAFE HYBRID technological line which was implemented to manufacture improved packaging products. The new line made it possible to reduce the thickness of layers of packaging materials, adapting our packaging to the latest market trends, i.e. thickness in the range of 30-50 µm. It also increased automation of receipt of welded products.

We now continue the production of our most popular safe and courier bags and envelopes with much reduced impact on the environment, and have introduced improved products – hybrid envelopes, including those made of regranulate and biocompostable materials.

The process change has increased and improved PLAST-FARB’s production capacities, and optimised the environmental parametres of production by reducing waste by 3.43 tons (20%), CO2 emissions by 86.23 tons and annual electricity consumption by 0.09 GWh per year.
